Intensive English courses provide students with a more concentrated learning experience than studying only Morning or only Afternoon. By combining our Morning & Afternoon classes, students will have 30 hours of tuition each week with 2 different classes, 2 different teachers, and 2 different weekly of course, students still benefit from the fun and dynamism in our classes at all times!! Intensive classes are suitable for students of all levels - from Elementary all the way up to Advanced learners.

With our Intensive lessons, students see fast and consistent improvement in their English.

Our unique courses have been specially designed so that teachers use exciting, vibrant lesson plans which provide students with task-based learning objectives and real-world English. Students from all over the world come to ULearn to improve their English because of our effective and fun teaching methods.

Our Academic Director oversees every students entry, progress, and continuous assessment throughout the the length of their learning path.

Of course, Intensive students can still take part in our social activities and normally meet even more new friends than students only taking Morning or Afternoon classes!!

Please see below more information about how we organise a week of lessons:

The course consists of eight 90-minute lessons per week from Monday to Thursday, with Friday spent reviewing and testing language and communication skills.

The eight lessons are:

A conversation-focused "mingling" lesson*
4 skills lessons (Speaking, writing, reading & listening)
2 systems lessons (vocabulary and grammar)
An exam skills lesson

In each lesson, there's one main learner outcome but learners will have the opportunity to speak to each other and learn vocabulary and grammar in every lesson).

*The mingling lesson is the first lesson of the week. In this lesson, learners use the start of the week to "catch up" with each other, having a conversation about their weekend and their plans for the week and also having a "get-to-know-you" conversation with new classmates. We use this lesson to give our learners useful practice of the most highly-frequent tense forms (past simple; "going to" future; "present continuous for future arrangements"; "present perfect" and present simple). At the same time we use the lesson to give the learners practice with high-frequency "chunks" that don't normally get enough attention in course books ("look/feel/sound like"; "(not) manage to"; "too .. to..."; "there's no point in..."; " wouldn't mind"; "have difficulty + verb-ing"/"find it difficult + to verb"; "find + object + adective" etc.)
Lastly, the mingling lesson is used to give learners the opportunity to practise importan conversation skills like starting, joining and ending conversations; showing interest; turn-taking; mediation and so on.

Fridays are spent reviewing the vocabulary and grammar that was focused on in the lessons during the week as well as doiing some tests with it and also some skills tests (speaking and listening).

Fridays are also when students can do a level test if they want to move to the next level.

Please note that the intensive course combines the General English AM and PM 15 courses. Students wishing to do a course with a dedicated daily conversation class should enrol on a General English AM or PM 20 course.
